FernandoF, you may be able to recover it using "testdisk", as long you didn't overwrite a part of the previous partition

n-iCe, you just need to do a regular install, custom partitioning, and select the type as ext4

Hi everyone. I installed 9.04 yesterday and it works fine and really fast. Never the less I got a strange problem with skype. I instaled it through Medibuntu repositories and it functions OK, but my ethernet internet connection goes out, then comes back and so on, during a skype session. Any idea?

I just upgraded from 8.10 to 9.04. After the reboot, I see the bootlogo and then the screen goes completely black. I can't even get a terminal with ctrl-alt-F1. This is bad. What can I do?

Rolle, I don't think I saw that thread, but on first blush, isn't that the issue with switching from by-label to by-uuid? That's why one of the first things I checked when I got into the liveusb was that the uuid was correct.

jbmigel, It's very rare that a wifi card is supported out of the box on one release and not the next, especially considering that the release after gutsy was LTS so regressions were taken more seriously than normal

SoulNothing i originaly installed xubuntu did the desktop upgrade to ubuntu intrepid then just yesterday upgraded in synaptic to 9.04..

module nvidia does not exist in /proc/modules
so it apparently fails to load at kernel level
Now I can't sort out how to undo it and run the 9.4 one. It just hangs when I boot into X. Fixing X in recovery still locks up. Netboot asks for a password I don't know.

Hey all, yesterday I setup a Samba server which authenticates over LDAP (basically emulating a Windows DC) Everything is going well, but excel files are not saving with the permission that they are being opened with. I am sure this has to do with a setting in Samba config, can anyone point me in the right direction to help?
